Fulltext PDFShoulder pain is a prevalent issue in the musculoskeletal system and can greatly hinder athletes participating in sports that include overhead movements. These sports have a high risk of overuse injuries to the shoulder joint due to their comparable load and risk profiles. In recent years, numerous research has been undertaken to examine the risk factors associated with shoulder injuries. Additionally, there have been studies focused on evaluating the impact of preventative programs in reducing the occurrence of shoulder injuries. Εxamples of shoulder injury prevention programs from the existing literature include the FIFA 11+ and shoulder injury prevention program, the functional training program, the Oslo Sports Trauma Center (OSTRC) shoulder injury prevention program, the shoulder strengthening program, the shoulder control programme, the shoulder stretching, and stretching in combination with dynamic mobility and balance program. Evidence suggests that shoulder injury prevention programs are successful in decreasing the occurrence of shoulder injuries in those who engage in throwing activities. Nevertheless, further investigations are required, hence it is advisable to approach the findings of this research with caution.
